“Bristle sharp, scrappy, and refreshingly unpolished, like a night out that spirals ridiculously out of control”
What Happens When You Press Escape
About
Originally kick-started in the echoes of 00’s guitar bands such as The
Libertines and The Strokes, the four-piece from The Hague have been restlessly creating a musical multiverse of their own.
In 2024, they released The Weekend Wasteland EP with notations in the
Snob2000 and played the Pinguin Radio Showcase during ESNS.
In 2025 they released singles Always Out At Midnight and What Happens When You Press Escape in a series from the upcoming album Are You Still Awake?. To match their sound they’ve been looking overseas and found mixer Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, Kasabian) to mix the album, set to be released end of 2025.
The Bohemes are brothers Léon Huisman on guitar and lead vocals,
Gabriël Huisman on drums, Nigel de Vette on guitar and Dex de Fijter
on bass.

“A driving tempo and exciting electric guitars that make you nostalgic for the indie rock wave of the 2010’s. Are we listening to Arctic Monkeys or The Black Keys? No, we’re listening to The Bohemes, straight out of 070 (The Hague). The single was mixed by Barny Barnicott, who previously worked with Sam Fender and Arctic Monkeys themselves. This is reflected in the strong production, which leaves us with high expectations in anticipation of the rest of the album.” – 3voor12 Den Haag
“The Bohemes evidently are not just passing through the night. They’re here to stay..” – Zillions Magazine, UK
“Would this have been released by a British band, you would have had a smash hit in the alternative rock scene.” – Dansende Beren
“It looks like The Bohemes are developing really swiftly seeming to confirm the suspicion that there indeed is something in the water of The Hague that gives bands from there a certain edge over the rest of the country.” – Pinguin Radio
